WOW! Just wow!
That was a tough one this year. The weather in Northern Ireland usually tends to be quite kind around the beginning on June, but 2026 was a slightly different story.
High winds and persistent showers were forecast from a few weeks out and they landed right on queue just as the event was about to commence.
Pedal The Periphery is a charity endurance cycle hosted by NIPANC in order to raise funds and awareness around the symptoms of Pancreatic Cancer.
Our team of 12 cyclists joined forces during the winter and we started working our plan to get the team around the 480 mile route starting in Lisburn, just outside Belfast, all the way around Northern Ireland and back to the finish line within 48 hours.
We encountered powerful head winds, relentless climbs and non-stop rain, but none of it could dampen the spirits of our incredible team as they smiled through the conditions and worked together like a well oiled drivetrain!
Huge thanks to everyone on the organisation team, and to all of the incredible volunteers who made every checkpoint like a miniature festival despite some of them being slap bang in the wee hours of the night!
